be altered slightly for safety reasons. 3,000 strong ladies made their way around wearing a variety of outfits, some ran, some walked, and some a little of each, but all with the same goal – raising money. A BBQ with quizzes and raffle took place afterwards for friends and members of the Charnwood committee.
Thanks to all who helped and supported us.
Sponsor money for Race for Life is sent directly to CRUK by each participant.

in the shape of Brenda Edwards (formerly of X-Factor fame) who invited guests onto
the dance floor with her. A Raffle and some wonderful Auction gifts all made for an

supporters and friends.

Race for Life 2006
Several committee members and friends joined together to take part in this year's Race for Life at Loughborough University. The weather, slightly cooler than last year, made for a much better relaxed walk and in some cases run. Glenys Sismey was kind enough to host the post race BBQ once again, and together with quizzes and raffles we were also able to forward a donation to CRUK in memory of our dear friend and committee member John Sismey who lost his battle with cancer in May.

The Memorial Hall in Swithland was the perfect setting for our recent Wine Tasting Evening. We were treated to 15 different wines from Whites and Rose's to Reds. Rodney Tompkin and his Staff did an excellent job of explaining and letting us 'taste' our way around the tables and everyone enjoyed cleansing their palate with the magnificent cheese selection provided. CHEERS!! Another glass anyone........?
Watch this space we will be back. Rodney can be contacted on 01530 813690.

Family Fun Day
What better way to celebrate completing our exciting Photo Trail around the grounds of the Cropston Visitor Centre than with Fruit Cake, Chocolate Sponge, Bakewell Tarts, to name but a few of the delicious home-made goodies which, along with steaming hot tea, were the order of the day.
Mums, Dads, Children, Grandmas and Grandads, Aunts and Uncles all turned out on a glorious autumn afternoon to take part in what was a fun, exhilarating and, for some teams, highly competitive trail. Armed with their packs, families set off to find the objects shown in the photo and mark them on the map, before returning them to be scored. Competition was fierce as the Flip Chart scoring progress was filled in at each stage, ensuring everyone tried their very best. Teams even got better at holding the map the right way up and improved their scores over the afternoon! The eventual winners were the Blackwell’s and £439.86 was raised.
We’d like to publicly thank the staff at Cropston and the donators of raffle prizes, which are always welcome for any events in the future!
Same time next year anyone??

Tickled Pink Ball
Around 170 people donned their glad rags and went along
to Shortcliffe Farm in Shepshed for a glitzy ball in aid
of Cancer Research UK. The 'Tickled Pink' event raised about
£5500 for the cause. Not only were the guests treated
to a first class meal, they had the chance to take part
in a quality auction and even bid for a car!
Lynne Warren, one of the event's
organisers, said: "It really was an excellent night
and we were amazed with the amount of money which was raised
- I thought we would make about £3000. We had a fantastic
singer and a wonderful disco and I am so glad that everything
went so smoothly in the end but I think it will be a few
years until we hold one of these again!"

Virgin Vie Footspa Evening
A healthy gathering assembled armed with bowls and towels,
and were treated to a pampering session with guidance and
demonstration by our hostess Kimberley.
Despite her expecting twins in the summer, Kimberley still
managed to soak, exfoliate, massage and condition the feet
of our model with products from the Virgin Footsteps Day
Spa range. Those not wishing to pamper their feet on the
evening joined in by passing around and trying the products
on their arms and hands. We were also given our first view
of the new Jewellery and were able to try on the beautiful
necklaces, bracelets and rings. Lipsticks, eyeshadows, blushers
and mascaras were the order of the day for some younger
members of the group, who experimented with the colours
before deciding which to order. Afterwards refreshments
were served, and we all floated off home feeling positively
energised and invigorated. Thanks to everyone for their
support.
Nov 2004
Christmas Curtainraiser
November saw the start of the Christmas season with a beautiful
Carol Concert from the Salvation Army Band, followed by
a selection of games, raffle , tombola and photo quiz. Drinks
and the traditional mulled wine and mince pies were greatly
appreciated by all.

Weekenders Fashion Show
Once again we are pleased that Karina could join us and
show us through the new range of Weekenders Fashion. Several
'volunteers' became models for the evening, posing no
threat to the likes of Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss. Nevertheless
they all did a splendid job and the evening was a great
success.
